Home Risk Management Tips
The following tips are used with permission from The Guidry Group, a leading provider of security and risk management services. These tips are geared toward high profile individuals and families who face increased risk due to their wealth and status. 
  1. Cut shrubs and tree branches away from house and garage.
  2. Install timers and automatic lights around the outside and inside of the home. Lighting is your best and least expensive preventative measure.
  3. Make sure doors are locked and secured with at least a one inch bolt lock, and check that door frames are secure.
  4. Solid core doors are best on all exits.
  5. Windows and shades should have an inside lock.
  6. Windows and shades should remain locked at all times.
  7. Install peepholes in doors that access the home.
  8. Keep fire extinguishers near the kitchen and outer doors. They can be used for fires or to spray someone during an attack. This may allow time to escape.
  9. Install a security alarm system. The security alarm access panel should be installed in at least two of the following areas: by the garage; entrance to the home; kitchen area; or, front entrance. Most importantly, one should be placed by the master bed next to the nightstand. This allows you to turn the alarm on at night, and turn it off in the morning.
  10. Never allow anyone in your home unless you are sure who they are.
  11. Have your cell phone and home phone preprogrammed with emergency, friends, and family numbers.
