Fireman's Fund was founded in 1863 with a mission to support firefighters. The Fireman's Fund HeritageSM program provides needed equipment, training, and educational tools to fire departments with grants totaling more than $21 million nationwide.
The Fireman's Fund Wildfire Readiness program was designed in collaboration with the fire service and emphasizes prevention, preparation, and mitigation. Fireman's Fund policyholders can request a Wildfire Susceptibility Assessment. Our nationwide team of Risk Service Consultants visits the homes of our policyholders and assesses their vulnerability to wildfire based upon the National Fire Protection Association's Standard 1144. This assessment will uncover areas of the vulnerability and the Risk Service Consultant will offer recommendations and solutions.
Wildfire is the enemy and all homeowners should provide a clear line of defense for any approaching wildfire. Many jurisdictions have written the responsibility of defensible space into code because it is widely recognized that cleared defensible space is critical to saving homes and lives from wildfire. Fireman's Fund has developed close partnerships with firms that are expert in the process of clearing and managing brush and other fuels in an environmentally sensitive way.
Homeowners in wildfire prone areas are encouraged to plan for evacuation should the need arise. Pre-planning saves property and lives.
