Optional Equipment Breakdown Coverage for Prestige® Home Premier
Optional Equipment Breakdown coverage provides additional insurance for equipment attached to and made part of the home or other structures where mechanical breakdown is otherwise excluded under the homeowners policy.

Examples of equipment covered by this policy enhancement:

  • Central air conditioning.
  • Ventilation systems and fans.
  • Water heaters and boilers.
  • Furnaces, heat pumps, heaters, and solar heaters.
  • Computer systems that control permanently attached electrical equipment.
  • Well pumps.
  • Back-up generators.
  • Chair lifts and elevators.
  • Electrical power panels.
  • Central vacuums.
  • Pool equipment.

Considerations
Heat. Hot water. Electricity. Central air conditioning. A centrally-monitored security alarm. It's easy to take the equipment that runs these and other home systems for granted. If there is a major equipment breakdown in your home, will it be covered?

Home and extended warranties are limited and designed to cover everyday maintenance, not major losses. It's critical to protect your home for lost or damaged equipment.

Today, computer equipment and sensitive circuitry are common in many types of equipment and machinery used in homes. These components are more fragile and prone to breakdown. Equipment Breakdown insurance covers these systems.

Pricing
The premium for this new coverage starts at $25 per year.
